LINEAGE

Early Cycladic Figures 3000-2000BC (National Archeological Museum, Athens)

2014

sketchbook double page 21cm x 27cm

ink and graphite on paper

The meaning and function of Cycladic figurines is still an enigma. The figures might have been toys, or made for shrines or graves. If time is a line with me at one end, these figures belong toward the other end of that line.

“AVEC TON LAIT, MA MÈRE, J’AI BU LA GLACE” (Irigaray, Luce.  Et L’Une Ne Bouge Pas Sans L’Autre, Les Editions de Minuit, 1979)

My interest in LINEAGE started with the family. Silent legacy descends the family tree and influences the behaviour of single individuals across generations.
